Having experienced extreme lag--in excess of 1000ms--on the PTR with patch 2.2, I merely figured it was the server succumbing to its high population. But now that the patch is live, where as I used to sit around 60ms, I know hover at about 1200ms.
To make sure it wasn't a patch day coincidence, I logged into WoW from another computer running Windows--it worked fine. So I launched WoW through WINE, and I experienced no latency issues. The problem only occurs when I run WoW v2.2 from within Cedega.
Is anyone else experiencing extreme fits of lag since the new patch has gone live? And moreover, is there a solution?

its driving us mad here, we have 4 pc's in the house, all running ubuntu feisty fawn all running WoW thru Cedega
everyone playing on it perfectly fine last night, and today since the patch we have one pc, with horrendous lag (latency and fps nothing havent played with before) but its awful cannot play at all
have searched the net in hope of help but nothing, ive tried everything, removed all addons, set the graphics to the lowest possible settings, deleted the wft and interface folders, and used the wow repair function nothing
also one of them has horrendous graphics but no lag
the other 2 are perfectly fine
obviously its something to do with the latest patch as there are many complaints from windows users on the forums over at wow europe too
no concilation but im glad were not the only ones with the problem

Just wanted to report that 2.2 is not a nightmare for everyone. Until now, I had no problems. It patched fine, and I'm in alterac since 20mins with no issue. All my addons are okay also (and I'm using quite a lot Razz).

I'm using Ubuntu on an amd64 4.4Ghz with 2GB ram and cedega. I get "sometimes lag" sometimes it's red, sometimes it's green. The network seems fine. I've tried the engines 6.0.3, 6.0.1, and 5.2.10
Hope we figure this out. I just got this computer and Cedega 3 days ago, but I'm trained in computer diag. but I got nothing. Tried tracert, no significant lag. Tried changing engines. Tried using windows. Windows works fine. I don't use headphones so I haven't used the new voip function yet.
Also the water is fritzy. but the weird thing is all these effects are occasional. Also in the main cities I get npc's who don't appear.

I wonder if I might point you guys to post your bugs into the sticky at the head of this forum, hopefully consolidating all the system specs and info into one spot might help get things fixed sooner.

A partial workaround for this is to disable Occlusion Queries in the Graphics settings for this title. We're continuing to investigate and fix the other issues which the 2.2.x patches introduced.

Are there any other workarounds? I have tried the suggested partial workaround, to no avail. My latency is still skyrocketing.

I found that if I disable sound in the options interface (under "Sound & Voice") inside world of warcraft and then relaunch the game I no longer have the lag issue. Of course, then I have no sound.

Hmm..what worked for me in the end was setting vertex data to 128mb (from auto) and setting OS to win98...
I get some FPS issues occasionally, now (wasn't before..was cleanly at 50-60 at all times) but now I don't have latency issues.

Could it be a symptom that WoW fails to get a correct IP address from Cedega? The Connection Info in update downloader shows that my PC's IP is 127.0.1.1. Obviously, this is not true... Also, I did the same update download on Windows and it completed in no time.

Any update on this issue?
WoW runs graphically smooth in Cedega, but I get showstopper networking latency and spikes. Wine (in D3D) on the other hand, is slow and ugly, but has the nice ~50-80ms ping I'm used to enjoying. My videocard isn't powerful enough to put me at 40fps+ at all times, so I can't stand OpenGL and its lack of Hardware Cursor.
I managed to get it at least playable by tweaking the settings a bit. I'm not sure which option did the trick, though.
Quote:
- All non-mentioned options have their default values
General:
Scheduler -> No
Decrease WineServer Priority -> checked
Accelerated InterProcess Communication -> checked
Graphics:
Video RAM -> 1024
Fixed Program -> No
Fragment Offset -> Tex
Non Power of Two Textures -> Yes
Fixed GL Extension Buffer -> checked
Manual GL Extensions: -GL_ARB_vertex_buffer_object
When I'm out hunting, I get around 200-250ms latency, which is playable-ish. But when I'm in cities, it often jumps up to 2000ms, and even stops drawing characters - so I can only see their shadow blob.
Even worse than the lag are the spikes. Some 15 seconds here and there when the world freezes around me (not graphically, just no network communication), and then I toss a dice to see if I get to stay alive or not.
System is a laptop - Acer Aspire 9815 - with an Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 PCI-E, though from what I gather this seems to be happening to everyone and their dog? WoW 2.3, Cedega engine 6.0.5.
